[Cialug] OT, .. T-Mobile vs. Verizon

During the Derecho I needed an alternate form of internet access. I
couldn't hotspot my cellular phone, because the US Cell network in my area
was overloaded for nearly 3 weeks. Voice calls but no internet access.

One thing to note, is that during this time the Verizon network was up and
running. Slightly slower than normal, but 100% viable. I almost bought a
stand alone verizon wifi hotspot, but at the last minute I was able to rent
some office space that had an underground heart of iowa fiber connection.

If I had to choose a cell provider today, I would probably go with Verizon.
