[Cialug] Mediacom's pop-up banners

As the month goes on Mediacom will tell me that I'm nearing my data limit
(grr) by embedding a banner atop of some websites. It doesn't seem to do it
to SSL websites, but if I go to a non-SSL website it will show up along the
top of the page. For example, I've seen it atop my own website at
http://www.bearfruit.org

When I check, the domain it is not altered.

Implicitly, this means to me that they're transparently proxying all of my
non-ssl web traffic through their servers which are then re-writing the
pages if they see fit. This makes me unhappy.

Is there any other explanation for what is going on that I may be missing?

It used to be that when I saw this happening it meant my DNS in my router
was not getting set. If I set the DNS servers to OpenDNS that wouldn't
happen. But I'm pretty sure it's working now, though as I write this I feel
like I should double check that just to be sure.
