[Cialug] Mediacom's pop-up banners

Mediacom is the only cable internet provider in the area, right? I've 
actually been thinking of switching to them (<shudder>) because the 
maximum speed i can get from DSL is just so slow. (No fault of my ISP; 
the phone wires in my neighborhood are bad.)

Obviously i don't want my ISP mangling my traffic though. That's never 
been a problem with my DSL ISPs. Will i have to set up a permanent VPN 
to work around this though if i switch to cable?
