HP ProLiant servers with SmartArray controllers use the Linux cciss driver module. In a working system, typically you should see the array as /dev/cciss/c0d0 with /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 as your boot partition. So if you are seeing /dev/sda1 you don't have the Smart Array driver working properly and the server is just seeing one of the hard disk.

Have not dealt with HP/Compaq much, .. but I *thought* the install was going great until reboot.

to use the Compaq driver but it was a non-starter also.

Verified /dev/sda1 as the boot partition (OK), .. but nada. What's the trick to get it to BOOT??

	TIA,
