[Cialug] [Slightly OT] High-speed DSL availability in DSM metro

Yep, I know it's expensive.  I was involved in some FTTH
design and builds a few years back.  However, in my area,
most of the pedestal deployments were done 5-6 years ago.
What the component upgrade costs for those pedestals would
be now, I'm not certain.

However, Qwest may not have much of a choice.  If Mediacom
would get their act together, and LTE (oooh...4G!) or
WiMAX deployments move into the area (bugs and bandwidth
caps notwithstanding), Qwest could find themselves in a
world of hurt on the residential side.

Like I mentioned earlier, when the places that the
boondocks consider boondocks are rolling out high-speed
DSL (7+ Mb/s), there's a problem.
