I'd try this link:

http://snapshots.madwifi-project.org/madwifi-hal-testing/madwifi-hal-testing-r3942-20090205.tar.gz

compile that (make sure you have headers and a build environment set up)...
that did it for me on a HAL atheros chipset back in october or so.
