[Cialug] Custom distro CD's

Ello --

If you don't mind building an entire distro from scratch.    
www.linuxfromscratch.org is a very well documented look at a rather  
complete and customized distribution.  We've taken that base and  
converted it to a custom linux distro, zinux.cynicbytrade.com for  
something similar to what you've described.

Most people use ISO linux, but you can even use grub as the CD boot  
loader and you just need to make sure your start up scripts account  
for most of the filesystem being read only and create a writable /var

I'm also certain that there are 100000 different knoppix variants  
around that might be more customizable.
