I'll restate:

By supported I meant: If a distro/company designs new desktop stuff,
enhancements, and whatnot, it uses KDE or Gnome as its developement
environment (using their APIs). So, I am referring to their default
desktop. Maybe Mandrake is desktop neutral with their "extras"
I don't really know I'm speaking in general here.

By this definition I say Debian "supports" no desktop (No default option
either), since any work is done only with gtk or qt without KDE/Gnome
integration. However with Debian you can install a huge number of desktop
/ WM environments and they are all supported in the normal meaning.

Since there are many distros using KDE as their default, they tend to
improve on it then send some or all of that back to KDE. This helps
KDE developement. Wanting the same forces pushig Gnome development
and wanting Gnome to get more exposure isn't being a zeolot is it?
<humor>
Or do you KDE people want "special rights"?
Maybe a contract with all distros requiring them to use KDE as their
default. They can include other desktops but they can't tell the user
its on the cd or how to install it. Call the MS Linux contract.

Love XFCE and wouldn't mind seeing some of the same "forces" pushing
it. However, its a little lite for Joe user.

I like KDE also.

Didn't I already say this? ;)

The End. Part II
