You can (and likely should) be leveraging the OS packages even if
using ansible/puppet.

In puppet you can specify to use the OS repos, and either install a
given version, *OR* install the 'latest', what ever that is.

You get the benefits of the OS repos, without needing a manual step on
every server you manage :-D
