I would have to second this suggestion.  These tablets are REALLY good for
this kind of thing if you get a decent keyboard for them.

I have an iPad and with the addition of a $99 Logitech keyboard that
doubles as a magnetic iPad cover and runs 6 months on a charge, it really
works well!

As was mentioned, this can be more expensive than a netbook, but if you
already happen to have a tablet of some make, you might want to see if you
can just get a keyboard for it.
