PPA that will let you install Cinnamon (a GNOME 2-like UI written atop 
whatever version of GTK that GNOME 3 uses) on Ubuntu--or you can simply 
install Mint, as others have said.  (From the point of view of driving 
home one's displeasure with Unity and/or GNOME 3 by increasing downloads 
of Mint relative to downloads of Ubuntu, the latter is arguably the 
better choice.)
