Can't speak specifically for Ubuntu(*), but since it's Debian-based,
here's the Debian solution:

In /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf edit the line:

supersede domain-name "fugue.com home.vix.com";

(*) I read on Wikipedia that "Ubuntu" is an ancient African word that
means "I can't configure Debian", so it must be true.
