I thought this was interesting. It appears that HDD mean time between 
failures is measurable, in so far as it is totally unpredictable. So 
sayeth Carnegie Mellon University.

Apparently HDD manufacturers are padding their MTBF numbers, by alot, 
which isn't a total shocker.
