Linux does it too.

The difference is that under Linux you can use Syslog and sar to get a better feel as to why than you can in Windows.

My question was prompted by a reboot of a Windows server.  My
frustrated reaction was "Linux wouldn't do this!".  But, you know,
Linux isn't immune from failure either.  So I was just trying to get
some perspective.
