[Cialug] SSH after ubuntu install?

Is there any way to make sure SSH is installed and running after installing
ubuntu from CD? Or Remote Desktop/VNC?  I've done remote installs before
without realizing that even if these were installed and turned on on the
live cd they won't be after the reboot into the installed OS.
