I've heard the acer aspire one goes for $199 at sams club, works with hardy+
from the box. I'm thinking of stopping by but haven't conned one of my
cardholding friends into it just yet.

Cheers

I can't say enough good about the HP Mini 1030NR that I got, running
Ubuntu Karmic (9.10). Everything works out of the box, and it's pretty
reasonably fast for a netbook. I would imagine that netbook hardware
has probably changed a lot since I bought mine, though. The things that
tend to change with stuff like this from large computer manufacturers
are the wifi chipsets and sound drivers... This particular netbook
works with karmic, but I had a lot of sound issues with jaunty. The
wifi chipset worked with jaunty and karmic via proprietary drivers.

The main reason I got the HP was for the keyboard buttons being 93% of
full-size. It helps with the fat-finger typing I'm so fond of
accidentally performing. :P
