[Cialug] Tracking the Ubuntu beta distribution

I recently acquired a MacBook which i've set up to dual-boot OS X and
Ubuntu 6.10. I chose Ubuntu (as opposed to Debian, that i normally use)
because of its better automatic hardware configuration on laptop
computers. So far i've been impressed with how much it figured out
automatically. But there are still a few issues, and it looks like i
can either spend hours manually fixing them on 6.10 (which kind of
defeats my original purpose of using Ubuntu), or i can upgrade to 7.04
where most of the issues are fixed out-of-the-box.

My question is, if i install the beta version of 7.04, is it like Debian
Testing where i can just use aptitude to update to the final release
version without any serious issues? If so i think i'll go ahead and do
that, but if updating to the final version will be a problem then i'll
just wait a couple months until 7.04 is actually released.

The way that i use Linux has really changed... 10 years ago i used to
love spending the time to make a machine work the way i want it to. Now
i just want to install it and start using it as soon as possible.
