Knoppmyth is debian based.
RF keyboards are, in my experience, much more forgiving that IR - if you
haven't had any experience with them to make that call on your own.

Appreciate the suggestion. I'm partial to Ubuntu because I've got 3 years
experience now with Debian / Ubuntu, and am relatively comfortable with
administering from the command line. If Ubuntu + MythTV gives me the flake,
I'll have a copy of knoppmyth at the ready.

BTW, found this last night:

Nintendo Wiimote's been hacked for pc use (WMD for linux, GlovePie for
Windows). In combination with big screen MythTV, whata combination!
And it saves me the headache of not worrying about what to do for a mouse.
Now all I need is wireless keyboard.
