[Cialug] PostgreSQL on SUSE 10.1

Okay, first run of chkconfig --list shows postgresql off in all 6 columns.
After running chkconfig postgresql on it show on in the 3rd and 5th column,
which is what I think it should be. Now, I'll reboot and see what happens.
Okay, it still shows on in the 3rd and 5th column but it's not accepting
remote connections. There's an -i switch when I start it from the command
line that must not get set with chkconfig. Any further advice?

I suppose I need to look at the conf file and see if it says anything about
remote connections there. I have the IP range of my home network where it
should be, but I don't think that automatically makes it accept remote
connections.

You can use chkconfig or, if you want a GUI, you can use "/sbin/yast2
runlevel"

To use chkconfig, do the standard "chkconfig --list" and look for
postgresql.
Then do "chkconfig postgresql on", and run the list again to make sure
that the changes took.

I tend to use chkconfig because it works the same on RedHat/CentOS as
on Novell/SUSE.

I've just installed SUSE Linux 10.1 and I've got PostgreSQL configured
and
accepting remote connections from my local network. It doesn't seem
to
start automatically when the system reboots. Does anyone know what I
need
to do to get it to start automatically?
