We have two ZoneMinder servers, monitoring a total of 18 cameras. Its
worked out very well for us.

Back in May, someone else was asking about Axis cameras, and I posted
this follow-up to it:

"In low light, we've had much better luck with Panasonic cameras than
the Axis ones. We're moving into a new building next month, and as part
of that, we're moving from using an analog security camera system to
one centered around ZoneMinder running on Linux. We purchased an Axis
205, and a Panasonic BL-C10A. The Panasonic was cheaper, and gives you
vertical and horizontal panning. In low light, the Axis camera had so
much noise in the images that there was no chance you would be able to
make out the details of who was in front of the camera. It did high a
higher frame rate than the Panasonic, but that does little good if
every frame is covered with noise.

I really wanted to like the Axis camera too - runs Linux, seemed to
have a great reputation, but we ended up purchasing a large group of
the Panasonic cameras instead (which I believe use BSD of some sort).

Both are very easy to use, Panasonic has a higher built-in feature set
though, and supports a variety of notification methods and capture
options. That wasn't really critical for us however, since ZoneMinder
gives us pretty much everything we need for motion detection and
capture We're using them indoors only. ZoneMinder also has direct
support for the panning in the camera, which is a nice touch."

Hope this helps.
