It's fairly easy to install.  Yes, you can whitelist mailing lists and 
even setup time sensitive email addresses specifically for use with 
mailing lists (e.g. you can have an address for mailing list that 
expires in two weeks).

I'll say this, the little trouble I had getting it working was well 
worth the time.
