There are two separate projects going to come up with a true
successor to Eudora. Unfortunately few Eudora users are happy with
either:

MailForge $20

Eudora OSE (FREE)

Outlook shows promise as a high-end product on the same level as
Eudora, but it isn't yet what most Eudora users are looking for:

Outlook/Mac (part of Microsoft Office)

By far the majority of Eudora users seem to be switching to Apple's
Mail. Mail is stable, it doesn't have a monolithic database to
corrupt, it is more or less free, it is supported by Apple and
countless users as peers, and there are tons of plug-ins for it so
that you can get it to do lots of odd stuff:
Mail plug-ins:

There are about 20-odd other e-mail programs for OS X, but few are
really popular. I can send anyone who wants one a list of all of
them. All have their strong adherents.

However, this one seems to be gathering a surprising number of
enthusiastic users:

Postbox ($30)
