As Karl stated, a drill press is a good way to go.
If you don't have a drill press handy, simply dismantling the drive and removing the platters will make it extremely difficult to recover the data from the platters. If you want to go the extra mile, etching/scratching the platters after they have been removed from the drive should make it nigh impossible to pull data from the platters.
