[DM-MUG] alias and symbolic links

They are functionally similar, the Alias is a mac concept, introduced around System 7 iirc, while the symlink (and the "hard" link) arose on Unix systems. So, while a mac can use either an Alias or a symlink, other systems may not be able to handle an alias.
