[DM-MUG] Is anyone else concerned about the renaming of iPhoneOS to iOS?

All legitimate concerns.
I want to know if any restrictions will be placed on what "iBooks" are offered for sale.
If that happens - at all - Apple will indeed have become the evil empire and I'll have to find another place to dump an average of $1,000 every single year on technology.
I hope they can reign in this impulse to expand absolute control in content and software. Compromises are needed.

Since the introduction of the iPad I've had a concern. That concern is that the next rev of OSX is iPhoneOS. Are these platforms converging? I don't think it's much of a stretch to envision an iMac with touch capability.
Why do I have a concern? I don't like Apple projecting their moral compass onto my machine. The best and worst part of iOS in my opinion is the App Store. The ease of download and installation of the apps is great, yet the numerous whacky app rejections and revocations due to "Too much bandwidth used" or "Inappropriate content" have lead me to fear the day that my desktop and notebook now require all software be delivered through the App Store and my software choice is restricted to the whims of some arbitrary reviewer.
In addition to the reviewer's whims, what about software and content developers? With the recent changes to the Software Developer Agreement Apple is now regulating what technology you can use to develop applications as well as shutting out access to mobile advertisers other than those that use the new iAd technology. What was the perfect mix of form and function (Mac + OSX) is now becoming an even more closed system in pursuit of more money (I really meant a better user experience of course).
Pray that I don't have to switch to Ubuntu...
