[DM-MUG] the new iPad

I was sold on the idea of the iPad last month, when a friend in Denver  
was waxing enthusiastic about his new Kindle.  My only real concern in  
the wake of the announcement this week is what I've read about the  
potential for eye-strain with the iPad's kind of screen vs. the  
Kindle's approach.  This might be a deal-breaker for me.

I'm not too concerned about the lack of multi-tasking -- it might help  
break my obsessive checking of email and certain web sites -- even  
though I've gotta admit that keyboard/dock thing had me thinking at  
first that this might replace my desktop.  I can see that happening  
five years from now, but not with version 1.0.

Overall, I'm still pretty excited about iPad.  I don't have a smart  
phone (nor have any serious interest in one), but like the idea of an  
e-reader that doubles as a web access tool that's more portable than  
my laptop.
