I think everybody might still be in holiday mode, Jack -- I know I've
been.
Have you installed anything new or done any updates recently,
especially right before the problem started? MacOS updates, MS Office
updates, new printer, new game? Something in particular we can
investigate further?
Are your MacOS updates in fact current? Have you tried a permissions
repair? (Jon: I agree that's not a magic bullet but it can't hurt
anything to try)
Could be a power management issue. Try resetting the power management
unit (PMU) by shutting down, unplugging the power cord for 15-20
seconds, then put everything back, turn on and test.
If still no improvement, we could try resetting the parametric RAM
(PRAM), and resetting the non-volatile RAM (NVRAM). Email back for
further instructions if needed.
Beyond that, it may be time for a closer, hands-on look. Any number of
DMMUGgers (myself included) would be happy to help you out. Keep us
posted.
Peace
CW
