[DM-MUG] Airport Extreme Issues?

You can change your DNS settings relatively easily. Check out the link below to find instructions on switching to Google's Public DNS:
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html
You'll need to scroll down about a third of the way to the Mac OS X section.
The directions at that link are applicable, even if you choose to go with a service other than Google's (e.g., OpenDNS). The only difference will be the numbers you enter.
For the record, I did this a couple of weeks ago when Mediacom was having trouble (again) after discovering that connections which were already resolved (e.g., IM connections) were not affected by an apparent internet outage. Immediately, I was able to resume browsing normally. It should be noted, though, that this has not completely eliminated issues; Mediacom's network has been notably less reliable since their email "upgrade" around Christmas. Even with alternative DNS settings, I have experienced network slowdowns and outages ranging from a few minutes to a couple of hours. From what I've seen, though, Mediacom's consistent response to inquiries is either, "What problem?" or "We're working on it."
All that said, when your network connection seems to fail, make sure to note the Airport signal strength indicator. If your Airport is good, even when the internet is not responding, you should still have normal signal strength.

Second, my power supply died on the wireless. I happened to have a replacement and it has worked perfectly since I switched. Could be the power supply.

I contacted Mediacom on the cable modem thinking it could be that and everything looks great on that end. I then reboot the Extreme and it will work for about a hour or so and go right back dropping connections. I have never had any issues in the past and this just started about a month ago. I have a newer Mac Mini connected to it as well as a older MacBook and a three year old Windows XP box.
