[DM-MUG] need fast answer if possible...ref Word

our daughter is finishing a test using Word [part of Office 2008 for 
Mac] on her MacBookPro running SnowLeopard [forgot to ask if OS is 
current] - did the graph she had to do, copied to clipboard and it 
was fine in part 1 of the test then she went to copy/paste it to part 
3 of the test and stalled Word -- rainbow beachball...she sent it to 
me [docx] and it wouldn't open in Pages so I tried in Word and it did 
the same - tho I am using MSWord out of Office 2004.  It stalled, a 
blue background page was there but it only filled half the white page 
and no writing appeared == I was able to open  it in Text Edit [as 
could she] and in Nisus Writer Pro -- but the graphs are missing and 
that's important == any thoughts on what we can do?  She's going to 
alert her professor but she needs to get back the graphs or get them 
into the document somehow.
