It's definitely available via ports.
I'd also recommend looking at the old shareware favorite
GraphicConverter.
It's been around for years (started before OSX) and it's got amazing
batch capabilities.
Between it and applescript I churned through a huge number of images
once for an animation project - all of them had to be renamed/moved
converted and processed in some way.
