Here is another of the very useful books which you can buy and
download from <www.takecontrolbooks.com>. It is written for those who
want to know more about the command line using terminal and who to do
things which cannot be job done in the Finder. It is well worth the
money and the time to look at a powerful tool which can be useful.

This book starts with the very basics of how to use the terminal and
how to configure one of more sessions to suit your needs. From there
you can proceed to using commands which are useful. For instance sudu
lsof -i lists all of the programs which are accessing the network or
the internet. Having trouble ejecting a CD/DVD? drutil eject will do
the job. The book also explains how to use "man" to find out the
syntax of a command. I just noticed that the ls (list) command can
include a parameter to show you the last time a file was used (not
when it was modified).

One lack in this book was that I did not find any way to find all the
commands available. At the meeting tonight CW and Jon pointed out that
if I use google and type "bash followed by what I want to do I can
find the command. The other lack is an index. Without scanning the
whole book I cannot find some of the things which I know are there but
cannot find with the search.
