You might as well also check with discussions of iPhone data roaming 
use issues == the same issue applies, what you up and download may or 
may not be enough to go over the 5G -- depends on your usage.  I 
think emails might not matter so much but web surfing, video stuff 
etc. might.  You could do what I do and have a Gmail account to 
access my email when traveling and a separate one that is for my 
iPhone and from which I have deleted all listserves and anything else 
that I really don't need on the iphone but could get later at a web 
cafe.  By stripping down my iPhone GMail account to essentials I'm 
usually pretty safe on data use, though I haven't monitored it 
lately.  I'll check into it as of this past holiday and if I find 
something out will let you know.
