Jon, thanks for the information: I'm using a Airport with WPA2 security. My MacPro OS X 10.6.2 has the firewall enabled. I'm using a newer DSL modem: Actiontec GT70. So far I've come to the conclusion that I am intercepting perceived shared resources. By perceived I mean that there is nothing there except a empty directory.

Another possibility is that you have an insecure wireless network in your home, and people are utilizing it without your knowledge other than this. Finally, there is a slim possibility that your cable modem is misconfigured so that you are not firewalled off from a neighbor. This was actually common with early cable modems, and is quite rare now.

And they/it are picking up signals??
