[DM-MUG] import from HI-8 video camera

I've also used a Sony Digital 8 to do in camera digitization of an previously recorded analog HI-8 tapes.   But, since the tape itself was recorded in analog format, the video on the tape is  only be as good as the original medium regardless of where the digitization now takes place, whether its inside the camera as you outlined or at another source from the RCA out jacks on the original Hi-8 camera.   Personally I would not recommend purchasing a Digital 8 camera since it was pretty much the low end of the spectrum for digital video cameras in comparison to DV.  Unless the individual has a large library of Hi-8 tapes they wish to record and do not own a Hi-8 camera with RCA video out jacks.
