If you want Mac-only (I know the question is cross-platform, but am adding
this for other people that may be interested) you should check out SousChef
http://acaciatreesoftware.com/. It's hands-down the best Mac Recipe software
around.

Otherwise, I suggest using a website, such as allrecipes.com. Because it is
web-based, it is virtually guaranteed to be cross-platform (it is.) Also, it
allows you to "bring your recipes along" if you want to share them with a
friend.
