[DM-MUG] B/W G3 monitor

any CRT monitor should work. I had a KDS monitor hooked up to my old G3, and then I switched to an apple CRT. You could even hook up an LCD with a HDMI to VGA adapter.
Sometimes the cabling needs wiggled, so that might do the trick.
Just try a different monitor with the G3. If the same result appears, then you need a new video card. I think G3s take AGP or PCI. You can just remove the video card and take it to the store if you're unsure. AGP is the longest and brown colored. PCI is shorter and white colored. PCI is the shortest and only became more common in systems manufactured beyond 2005/2006. Definitely NOT PCI express.
Then try hooking up the monitor to a different computer to determine if it's a bad monitor or video card issue. If the monitor is bad, you can donate it to this computer place behind (on the back side) Friedrichs Coffee and Hyvee on 42nd Street in Des Moines. They take used hardware and refurbish it and resell it.

Thanks for the idea. If I have a monitor which will work with it we
can find out fast.
