Darlene,
There are a lot of good scanners out there and the Epson Precision
seems to be popular. Others might point you to others which would be
good. I don't know your requirements for a scanner but I am assuming
you would use it in the same way most of us use it--for reproducing
photos, some documents and occasionally a thick object. I'll give my
comments but others might have more to add.
My feeling--Get the Epson Precision V300 with the transparency unit.
You need this unit in any scanner if you want to so slides or
negatives. Looking at the Snap Scan this seems to be a scanner for
business who do a lot of scanning of existing documents with the
software to scan business cards . You can only scan documents which
can feed through the scanner ( just like some copiers). If this is
what you want to do fine, but for most use a flat bed scanner --like
the Epson Precision V300 with the transparency feature--is a better
choice. You need a flat bed to copy pages from a book or leaflet. The
only advantage of the Snap Scan is the ability to scan business cards
into the Address Book. Even if everything else were equal $200 for
this feature is a little steep.
The extra $20 for the transparency unit is very reasonable.
