I've used an Airport Express for a very long time. I have a bungalow
type house and and the airport was on the main floor in the front of
the house. My husband's PC was able to pick up a strong signal and it
was in the back of the house in the basement. I could also work
directly outside on my picnic table (which is also at the back of the
house) with no problem. Plus at $99 it's not a bad price. It will also
let you network a printer; however, i was never successful getting
that to work (operator error I'm quite sure was the problem). I'd try
the Airport Express and see if it will work. Save all its packing and
if it doesn't work you can return it for one of the other models. I
use Time Capsule/Time Machine now and have had wonderful luck with it.
Also was successful in making my printer wireless plus it gives you a
certain amount of firewall protection which is always nice.

Hope that can give you some ideas.
