[DM-MUG] USB Wireless adapter

My get your advice?
I have an old emac which could take an Airport Extreme Card.
If I get qwest DSL here at home, could I get a wireless modem from qwest or another source like Other World Computing and have the emac work without wires and would it work just as fast and secure as if it was wired?
