I purchased a Dual 500MHz "Gigabit Ethernet" PowerMac G4 with AirPort  
Card, 22" (ADC) Cinema Display, (Graphite) iBook Special Edition with  
AirPort Card, and (Graphite) AirPort BaseStation in September 2000  
(using my Apple employee discount). I purchased nearly the same  
equipment (15" Cinema Display) for my brother, Brad, at the same time.

All of the AirPort Cards do not support WPA, only WEP.

I purchased many many Macs since then and all of their AirPort (and  
later AirPort Extreme) Cards do support WPA.

Note: I am no longer an Apple employee, no longer get one 25%  
discount and three 15% discounts per year, and have to pay the same  
price as everyone else.

Could it be that the earliest AirPort Cards did not support WPA? Did  
Apple quietly update them with WPA without making a big deal about it?
