And believe it or not there is actually a 1.8" drive format. I thought
2.5" was the smallest and bought one for my laptop but when I opened
my computer (a Dell Latitude D420) saw there was no way the drive
would fit in. The cable is very different from the other drives, it
uses a ZIF connector where you just slip the end of the cable into a
slot and snap a small plastic bar down over the cable to hold it in
place.

They've been used in iPods for a while but now that these ultra tiny
netbooks are all the rage apparently these drives are becoming common
as user-replaceable upgrades (apparently it's uncommon to upgrade the
hard drive in your iPod).
