[DM-MUG] Keyboard question

Mike:

I'm using a Saitek USB keyboard on my Power Mac G5. It has a blue/red/
purple backlit keyboard. The "media keys" for volume, previous track,
next track, etc., don't work on the Mac, but the rest of the keyboard
works as I might expect. I did have to swap the Command and Option keys.

I would suspect that most USB keyboards will behave similarly: that
basic keyboard functions behave normally, but extra "media keys"
require Windows.

I would also suspect, as I do with most peripherals, that companies
don't say their products are Mac compatible because it's far too
difficult for them to hook up to one and see that it works. ;)

I've often mused that FireWire devices have the FireWire logo on them
(for which they should be paying a license fee to Apple), or that
other devices will have a QuickTime logo on them (also should be
licensed by Apple), but there's often no Mac support. Frustrating,
isn't it?

Peace,
CW
