I've heard that too - but really, if you had essential data on the 
drive, didn't you run some backup on it before it went south?  Data 
recovery is very expensive...My suggestion is try the freezer, hook 
up the drive and hope it can be recognized and data recovered from it 
before it dies.  And then back things up when you get the new drive.
