[DM-MUG] Wireless Mac Mouse Battery Issue

I can't stand the thought of being without my computer for the amount of
time it would take me to find/buy batteries, so I use corded mice
anywhere I don't want to be bothered. I also prefer corded mice on my
desktop (which is a PC) because they provide better gaming performance
(I would imagine that doing graphics work would also be a task for which
a perfectly responsive mouse would be handy, though). The only mouse I
have that is cordless is the little travel mouse that I lug around with
my netbook, but it has an off switch, so it hasn't failed me yet (and if
it did, I have the trackpad to use until I get the batteries worked out).

So, my suggestion would be to find a mouse that either has a cord, or
has an off switch. You don't necessarily need to have a 'Mac' brand
mouse. At work, both the PC mouse I use to get the context menu (thank
god for the right mouse button) and my wireless mouse work with no
troubles or special configuration (including the mouse wheels on both of
them). On one of the Macs at work, we are using 10.2.8 (an old blue
G3), and it requires the USB Overdrive helper app to recognize the PC
wireless mouse, but on the new Mac Pro (with 10.5) there is no need for
any extra software/drivers. I'm not sure which version of OS X they
added the support for PC wireless mice to, so YMMV. Also, you'll need
it to be a USB mouse (can you even buy a ps/2 mouse anymore?).
