[DM-MUG] deleting all contacts in iPhone

I'm trying to totally clean out my iPhone and MobileMe and 
Addressbook of entries preparatory to a new sync from my FMP 
database...I've emptied AB and MM just fine...but I can't get the 
Contacts out of iPhone = I  gave gone to the Info tab and done the 
replace info on the iPhone = and despite there being -0- contacts on 
MM,  they won't be deleted from the iPhone.  Ideas?
