Draw a crude map of what you see on a sheet of paper for each step.   
Tape the screws in the right locations.

Doing a drive replacement on an iBook G4 is not for the faint of  
heart.  40 steps in and 40 steps out.

It took me about 8 hours over 2 days and I like working with  
hardware.  I won't do one again.  Once was more than enough.

If your thinking about increasing the memory do it at the same time.
