You should share what DNS setting you used and why you chose that specific
setting (i.e. why you think it is more secure). If the two events are truly
related the only logical explanation I can come up with is that the new DNS
servers you're using send you to a youtube download location that is less
than ideal for your connection.

A way to test if this is the case is to take your computer to Panera for
lunch (or some other wifi hotspot, maybe the library) and see if watching a
video works better. Or you could revert your DNS settings to the original
value temporarily. (Personally I prefer an excuse to go to Panera for lunch)
