Tell us more about the laptop that won't power this drive: is it new
enough to have USB 2.0? or is it an older iBook/PowerBook with USB 1.1?
USB 2.0 (on your Mac Pro and MacBook) carries more current than USB
1.1 and shouldn't require additional power. More info please?
