[DM-MUG] 6500 and ethernet

I am taking a last look--mostly for curiosity-- at connecting my 6500  
to the network. When I have an ethernet cable plugged into the base  
station and the ethernet port on the 6500 two green lights are on  
steady and the other two blink during startup. But when I look for  
network settings in the control panels ethernet does not show up and  
when I try to connect it says that it cannot find the modem. I cannot  
find an ethernet extension. Should I have one?

I will be moving tis machine Monday for carpet cleaners so unless I  
will probably take it downstairs until I get rid of it.
