Good morning DMMUGgers,
Thanks to Holly for a great show. I now have nightmares about
stoplight babies and excessively styled glyphs.
I wanted to throw Pixelmator out as an alternative for entry level
image editing. Nearly all of the stuff that Holly talked about can be
done in this application too. It does not do some things (like layer
effects) but all of the nondestructive editing tricks work in the same
way. Also, Pixelmator adds a few other features that PSElements does
not - especially in the upcoming 1.3 release which is due out before
year-end. I think the two biggest draws for the DMMUG crowd would be
that 1) it's a little cheaper at $60 and 2) the GUI is very Apple-
centric instead of being Adobe-centric (i.e. I think the interface is
prettier).
So, without further ado, here are some links that have video of
someone showing off the app kinda like Holly did for PSElements:

PS My favorite mac tip might be useful for someone who reads this and
doesn't know what "glyph" or "GUI" means. Move the mouse over some
word and do Command-Control-D. It will pop up the definition for you.
This works in Safari, Mail, iChat, etc. (any Cocoa app).
